The Gupta Empire

For 490 years following the fall of the Mauryan Empire, the Indian people would remain under the rule of small city-states. Then, in 310 A.D., a new leader emerged who would begin again to unify India. This leader’s name was Chandragupta. Chandragupta set up his capital in the old Kingdom of Magadha.
