Sukhothai And Ayutthaya
The Sukhothai Kingdom was short lived. It lasted just a little longer than one hundred years. During this time, the Sukhothai kings were effective, and kind. They did not levy heavy taxes on their people, and they strived to improve their lives.
Then in A.D. 1350 a prince named Ramathibodi overthrew the government of Sukhothai and founded a new kingdom which he named Ayutthaya.
Ramathibodi setup his capital in the location of the present day city of Bangkok, the modern day capital of Thailand. Ayutthaya thrived for over 400 years, during which it became an important center for Hindu and Buddhist worship and thought.
