Life in the Mogul Empire

The Moguls believed in the importance of education, art and science. During the rule of the Moguls in northern India, the region enjoyed peace and prosperity. Akbar established a massive library, and encouraged his people to learn to read and to obtain an education.

The Moguls also built fabulous building projects, including the Taj Mahal.

The Taj Mahal was built as a tomb by Emperor Shah Jahan for his third wife (who was also his favorite), Mumtaz Mahal.
