Well, we are now one decade down with nine to go in our new century, the 21st. What amazing new inventions, ideas and advancements will come to be by midnight on December 31, 2099, when the 22nd century rolls around? There is a good chance you could be there to see most of this century and the turn of the next. Can you imagine how the world will change? Will it change as dramatically as the last century did, and will you see as much change and advancement as the children of 100 years ago saw through the 20th century? I think the 21st century will be amazing. Do you?

What did the world look like that kids lived in a hundred years ago in 1912, and how did it change for kids just like you that were there at the start of the last new century, the 20th? For one thing, in 1912, it would be 15 years before Philo T. Farnsworth filed for a patent for what he called the “Image Dissector,” a patent that became the basis for all electronic televisions. From there it would be another 38 years before the first episode of Star Trek and 42 years before my favorite, Sesame Street, showed up. Television is one of, if not the biggest technological and social advancement in the 20th century, although it certainly made doing homework a little harder, wouldn’t you agree?
